Questions and answers
How do I set GasPad up?
The first time it opens, GasPad asks for three things. You can change any of them later in Settings, and they’re printed on every record automatically.
- Your business: name, address, phone, Gas Safe registration number, and a logo if you have one.
- You: your name, Gas Safe ID card number, and your signature, drawn once.
- Email: your business email address and its password. Tap Send Test Email. If it arrives, you’re set.
My email password is rejected
If your email uses two-step sign-in, make an “app password” with your email provider and use that instead of your normal password. GasPad finds the server settings itself for the common hosts, including 123-reg, IONOS, Fasthosts, Namecheap, Hostinger, GoDaddy, Zoho, Google and Microsoft. If yours isn’t found, enter them by hand in Settings.
A record hasn’t sent
Records waiting to go are shown on Home under Waiting to Send, with the reason in plain English. Without a signal they send themselves once you’re back in range. If your email account is refusing them, check the password in Settings. On iPhone and iPad you can also open the record and choose Send Using Mail, which opens an email with everything filled in.
Why did it choose that next due date?
For gas safety records GasPad follows regulation 36A: if you check within the two months before the previous due date, the original anniversary is kept. Otherwise the next check is due 12 months from the day you checked. Review and Send shows which rule it used, and you can change the date if you need to.
Where are my PDFs?
Saved on your phone, filed by customer and then address, with invoices filed by year. On iPhone and iPad they’re in the Files app, under On My iPhone (or On My iPad) › GasPad. Settings › Back Up Your Records makes one zip of everything, to save or email to yourself.
How do I check a PDF hasn’t been changed?
Every issued record is sealed, with a short seal code at the foot of each page. Go to Settings › Privacy and Security › Check a PDF’s Seal and choose the file. GasPad tells you whether it’s exactly a record issued from your phone, or has been changed.
Nobody was in. What do I do?
Open the visit on Home and tap Couldn’t Get In, or choose No Access Record from the flame. Take a photo of the door, say what you tried, and send it. The landlord gets a dated record that you attended.
Can I move my records to a new phone?
Make a backup first with Settings › Back Up Your Records. On iPhone and iPad, your device’s own iCloud or computer backup includes GasPad, so setting up a new one from that backup brings your records with it. The iOS and Android apps keep their records separately, so records don’t move between the two.
I subscribed on the website. How do I use it in the app?
Open GasPad and sign in with the same email address you subscribed with. We send you a six-digit code; type it in and your plan is there. If it doesn’t show straight away, close GasPad and open it again.
How do I cancel my plan?
It depends where you subscribed. On this website: go to Manage your subscription. In the app on iPhone or iPad: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. In the app on Android: open Google Play, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions. You keep your plan until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and records you’ve issued stay yours.
How do I delete everything?
To remove your records, go to Settings › Privacy and Security › Erase All Records and Customers. It removes every customer, address, record, invoice, visit, photo and PDF from your phone and keeps your business details. Copies you’ve already emailed aren’t affected, so make a backup first if you might need anything. To delete a GasPad account, see Delete your account.
