Legal
Terms of Use
The agreement between you and GasPad when you use the app or this website. The parts about your professional responsibility and plans matter most.
About these terms
GasPad is made by KitCode Studios. KitCode Studios Ltd, registered in England and Wales with company number 17517161, is at Office 9944, 321-323 High Road, Chadwell Heath, Essex RM6 6AX. “We” and “us” means KitCode Studios. “You” means the person using GasPad.
These terms are the agreement between you and us for the GasPad app and this website. By using GasPad you agree to them, and our Privacy Policy explains how we use your information.
GasPad is a tool for your work. You must be 18 or over to use it. If you use GasPad as a consumer rather than for a business, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
What GasPad is, and isn’t
GasPad helps you fill in, sign, keep and send records of your gas work. It doesn’t carry out, inspect or certify any gas work, and it doesn’t check that you’re registered or competent for the work you record.
- You’re responsible for the work you do, for what you record, and for meeting the laws, regulations and Gas Safe Register requirements that apply to you.
- There’s no official “CP12” form. In Great Britain, regulation 36 of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 sets out what a landlord’s record must contain, and Northern Ireland has its own equivalent regulations. What each GasPad form is based on is listed in the app.
- A gas safety record is a record of the checks made on the day. It isn’t a guarantee that an installation will stay safe.
- GasPad isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by Gas Safe Register. See the Disclaimer.
Using GasPad properly
When you use GasPad you agree not to:
- issue a record for work you didn’t do, or that says something you know isn’t true;
- add a signature that isn’t the signer’s own, or use someone else’s Gas Safe registration number or ID card number;
- add the Gas Safe Register logo unless your business is registered and allowed to use it;
- use the reminder emails for anything other than reminding your own customers about their records;
- copy, change, take apart or resell the app, or try to get round its plans or limits.
Your account
- Use an email address you control and keep it up to date. That’s how you sign in.
- An account is for one person. A plan works on one phone at a time and can move between phones up to three times in 30 days.
- Tell us straight away at support@gaspadapp.co.uk if you think someone else has used your account.
Free records, the free month and plans
Your first three records are free. After that, starting a new record needs a free month or a plan. Records you’ve already issued can always be opened, shared and exported, with or without a plan.
Each plan includes every form and feature, monthly or yearly, and you can buy it on this website or in the app. You’ll see the price before you buy: at checkout for plans bought on this website, and in the App Store or Google Play for plans bought in the app. Prices include VAT where it applies.
Plans bought on this website
- The free month is offered once per person. We take your card details at the start but don’t charge you until it ends; cancel before then and you pay nothing.
- Payment is taken by Stripe, on our behalf, when the free month ends and then at the start of each month or year.
- Plans renew automatically at the same price and for the same period until you cancel. We’ll email you before a yearly plan renews.
- Cancel any time in Manage your subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep your plan until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- Refunds: if you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, email us and we’ll refund it in full. If you use GasPad as a consumer, you also have your legal right to cancel.
- Price changes: we’ll email you at least 30 days before a price goes up, and you can cancel before then.
- Receipts are emailed after each payment, and you can download invoices in Manage your subscription.
Plans bought in the app
- The free month is an introductory free trial on a plan, offered once. If you buy a plan during it, any unused part of the free month ends.
- Payment is taken by Apple or Google from the account you buy with, when you confirm the purchase or when the free month ends.
- Plans renew automatically at the same price and for the same period, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancel or change your plan in your App Store or Google Play account settings at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep your plan until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google, under their own policies.
- Price changes: if a price goes up, Apple or Google will tell you before it applies, and you can cancel before then.
Offers by email
If you’ve asked for tips, news and offers, we may email you a personal offer code, for example a lower price for your first year. Each code works once, for someone who hasn’t subscribed on this website before, until the date in the email. It can’t be combined with a referral code, swapped for cash, or passed on. After the offer period your plan renews at the normal website price, which we’ll show you at checkout, and you can cancel any time.
Referrals
If you subscribe on this website, we’ll email you a referral code of your own to share with other gas engineers.
- The engineer you refer gets £9.99 off their first payment after the free month when they subscribe on this website with your code. On the monthly plan, that’s a second month free. A code works once for each person, and only for someone who hasn’t subscribed on this website before.
- You get £9.99 of credit for each engineer who uses your code and then makes their first payment. It comes off your next payments automatically. You can earn up to 12 credits in any 12 months.
- Credit can only be used against your GasPad subscription on this website. It has no cash value, can’t be moved to someone else, and isn’t paid out if you cancel.
- Share your code with people you know. Using your own code, making accounts to use it, or sending it to people who haven’t asked to hear from you isn’t allowed, and we may cancel codes and credit gained that way.
- Referrals are only for subscriptions bought on this website, not in the app. We may change or end the referral offer; we’ll keep any credit you’ve already earned.
Your content and your customers
You own the records, invoices, photos and other content you create in GasPad. It’s stored on your phone and we don’t receive it, so you don’t give us any rights to it.
- You’re responsible for having a lawful reason to keep and share your customers’ details, and for keeping your own backups. GasPad can make a backup of everything as one zip.
- Emails go from your own email account, so your email provider’s terms apply to them.
- If you delete the app or erase your records without a backup, they can’t be recovered, because we don’t hold a copy.
Calculators and manuals
The gas rate and pipe sizing calculators are aids, not a substitute for your own judgement and the standards.
- Pipe sizing covers natural gas in copper tube only, not LPG or steel. Its figures are calculated, not copied from BS 6891, and anything from 0.85 mbar is shown as “Close to the limit”. Try it against jobs you know and your own copy of the standard before relying on it. The working pressure at the appliance is always the proof.
- Gas rates use a standard calorific value, which you can change.
- Manuals and fault codes open the makers’ own websites. We don’t control those pages, and a link may sometimes be out of date.
Our app and name
The GasPad app, name, logo and website belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for your work while you follow these terms. The forms you fill in are yours; the app that makes them is ours.
If you got GasPad from the App Store
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for GasPad or its content, and has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for it. If GasPad fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple isn’t responsible for any claims about GasPad, including product liability claims, claims that it doesn’t meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection claims, or claims that it infringes someone else’s intellectual property; we are, to the extent these terms say so. Apple and its subsidiaries can enforce these terms against you. You confirm you’re not in a country under a U.S. Government embargo, or on a U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, except where these terms say otherwise.
If you got GasPad from Google Play, Google Play’s terms also apply to your download and payments.
Changes to GasPad
We keep improving GasPad, so features may change. We work hard to keep it reliable, but we can’t promise it will always be free of errors. If we ever stop offering GasPad, we’ll give you reasonable notice. The records on your phone stay yours and can be exported.
Our responsibility to you
We provide GasPad with reasonable care and skill. Because it’s a tool and you decide what goes into it, we’re not responsible for:
- the accuracy of what you record, or the safety of any installation or appliance;
- emails that are late or never arrive because of your email provider, your signal or the person receiving them;
- records lost from your phone that weren’t backed up;
- losses we couldn’t reasonably have foreseen, or loss of profit, business, contracts or opportunity.
Otherwise, our total responsibility to you is limited to the greater of £100 or what you paid for GasPad in the 12 months before the problem happened.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit.
Ending
You can stop using GasPad at any time, and delete your account as described in Delete your account. Remember to cancel your plan with Apple or Google too.
We can suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Where we can, we’ll tell you why first.
Changes and the law
We may update these terms as GasPad changes. If a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
